Butchery workshop: Pork (May)
This item is currently unavailable.

For anyone who has ever wanted to learn some butchery skills this is a great way to spend your Friday evening! These very popular evening butchery classes, take you behind the counter with Gerard King, award-winning butcher of the Broxtead Butchery (Best On Farm Butcher in Britain 2010 as voted by the national farm shop association FARMA). Each workshop we look at a different kind of meat: pork, lamb, beef, poultry or game.

Watch a clip of a previous butchery masterclass.

The classes are relaxed and informal we start with a beer or glass of wine before going behind the scenes of the Broxtead Butchery. Gerard will teach you all about the meat, where it comes from, and also a range of basic butchery skills that you can put to use in your own kitchen. You will get plenty of hands-on practice and learn good knife skills, boning, stuffing, rolling and even the art of the butchers' knot. We'll also discuss the best ways to prepare and cook different cuts of meat.

We round off the evening with a relaxed light supper and another drink chance to chat about what we've learned.

Places are limited to 10 which helps us to give you the best one to one tuition possible.

The Broxtead Butchery is a traditional butchery specialising in the very best quality meat, hand-picked from local farms, including free-range pork from Blythburgh, local Red Poll beef, lamb from Spring Hill Farm Capel St Mary as well as their own venison and wild game, hand-reared Elmwood and Sutton Hoo chickens.

£80 per person including a light supper and the meat you've prepared is yours to take home. Please see the Food Safari website for more details.

Where and when: Classes run from 7.00 - 9.30pm. All workshops take place at the Broxtead Butchery, Suffolk Food Hall
