Our Food Hall is the finest market place for quality local produce. With a market hall, butcher, greengrocer, delicatessen, artisan baker, fishmonger and more; the produce we (and our fellow farmers) sell, is best value.
Our butchery has built a strong reputation based on a traditional service with contemporary products. As a full butcher's shop they buy in whole bodies, hanging them correctly and breaking them down in the old fashioned way. That is why, after only three years, we won the Best On Farm Butcher in Britain as judged by our peer group FARMA; compatriot farm shops from across the UK ... find out more
Grocer and Store Cupboard
The 8,000 square foot hall, in a converted cattle barn, has become the home of the best food that Suffolk has to offer. As well as our core selection of store cupboard staples and epicurean essentials, the Food Hall is also home to much that will bring originality back into your shopping basket. Open until 7pm on Fridays; 9am to 6pm Monday to Saturday and 10.30am to 4.30pm on Sundays, it is a 'must stop' venue.
Our delicatessen is stuffed with a wide range of cheese selected by Hamish Johnston, plus delicious antipasti, tarts, pies, quiches and a great choice of charcuterie: much of the cured meat comes from the butchery and many ready-to-eat items are prepared in the commercial kitchens in the Cookhouse.
The wet fish counter is a visual spectacle with a fantastic display of fresh local fish, plus more exotic catches from further a field. Talk to the fishmongers, Andy and the boys, about how to cook your fish. Open every day including Sunday.
We rely on a network of local market gardeners and farmers, including our own, for our fruit and veg. Some days it’s more abundant than others and we always have the standard citrus fruits etc by collecting them directly from importers at Spitalfields.
Our own artisan bakers are up before the dawn chorus to bake fresh bread from scratch every morning. From the humble bloomer to focaccias and speciality loaves... find out more.
Wine & Beer Merchant
Not only have we picked a fantastic selection of world wines, spirits and beers from East Anglian breweries, but we've also got a great range of English wines from such local independant vineyards as Giffords Hall and Lavenham Brook.
The Food Hall is lucky to have a Charbonnel et Walker concession, one of Britain's oldest chocolatiers, for your indulgence.
The Café in the Food Hall is also open for teas and coffees, cakes and toasted ciabattas. As well as serving the balcony, the terrace and the Jumping Pillow, there is a Beach Hut selling Criterion ice cream. Tables for full dining in the Cookhouse restaurant can be reserved from the Café.
